Rotary Club of Buderim - Community Service Report

July 2008 – June 2009
It has been a most rewarding year thanks to the help and advice from my committee and fellow Rotarians.

Many activities were undertaken and regrettably we had to let a few go with the golf day being deferred until the next year, due in the main to the global financial crisis.

Being a small club it would not have been possible to complete our activiti es without the help and assistance of other members of our club. My thanks to all members.

In particular I would like to recognise the assistance given to me by Bob Nelson. Bob's critical and factual input was instrumental in making sure our activities were a success. To the rest of my committee, I say a big thank you — a small team but I feel our achievements were most creditable.

To President Bev and Secretary Frank I say thank you for your valuable contribution based on your experience and commitment to Rotary.

During the year we welcomed Meg Scott to our committee. Very happy to have you on board and look forward to you sharing your wealth of experience with us.

Terry glad you completed the year and sad to see you and Megan depart for a time. I look forward to your return soon.

SERVICE ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONS — PARADE 26/1/2009
Once again we organised the parade through the main street of Buderim. Meetings started in July 2008 and from feedback from residents, participants. the BWMCA and press coverage. it was an excellent event. The crowd lining the route and on the oval was estimated in the vicinity of 4000.
It was a real pleasure to see the many smiling faces and it was a most enjoyable day. A special thanks to my committee and also to Lyn Phillips and Bob Acaster for passing_ on their experience gained when they were running the parade.
There were a few hurdles to overcome which were outside our role and responsibility (permits, road closures, police issues and such like) and I thank the BWCMA for completing these tasks.

GOLF DAY
Due to be held in May 2009 but deferred until October 2009. See above comments.
