Buddy's PageIn Bob Day's Year as President, his Board decided to donate $2,000 to Guide Dogs Queensland to obtain naming rights for one of their forthcoming puppies. And so on October the 2nd 2006 when Nancy gave birth to her litter, this little one was named Buderim or Buddy for short. We have indeed been fortunate that Guide Dogs Queensland has agreed to let Geoff (one of our members) and Liz Smith once again do the honours, and have Buddy for the first year of puppy training. Most of you will remember Walter, their first pup, who is now a working guide dog. So here's Buddy in the first 2 months with Liz and Geoff (taken 6/12/2006).
And finally, out to do what he was trained to do. How great is that!
What a Ceremony! On the 29th April 2009 which was International Guide Dog Day, Buddy and his new Owner were presented with their Graduation medals by Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AO, our new Queensland Governor. A very proud moment for Buddy. He's gone all the way; A very proud moment for his sponsors, The Rotary Club of Buderim; and a very proud moment for his Puppy Raisers, Geoff and Liz Smith. |
