This quartet comprises of Tommy Bree, Micki Murray, Alex Borthwick and Eamonn Reddin.  Incidentally these 4 boys are very talented musicians and are no strangers to the stage.  They can be heard and seen in musical productions, playing at weddings and festivals.  Most of them are equally comfortable with a guitar in their hands.  They are also part of the male Barbershop Chorus called “Tone Cold Sober”.
However this is the first time they have performed together as a quartet.  They came together three months ago and decided to get into the spirit of convention and perform competitively.

They are going to perform two of their favourite numbers, the foot-tapping sing along “Ro-Ro Rollin Along” and “Over the Rainbow”, the famous song from the 1939 movie ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

In this Sligo Quartet there is Martin Donoghue, Liam Cunningham, Tony Cotter, and John Mc Hugh.  They are all dedicated members of the larger male Barbershop Chorus “Tone Cold Sober”
Three months ago they decided to pool their knowledge and musical resources to form the quartet “C Shore 4”.  A very talented foursome indeed.  Liam and Tony are veterans of the stage and they can be seen every spring in the local Theatre playing lead parts in Sligo Musical Society’s annual performances.  John and Martin have decided that their Golf handicaps will just have to suffer as they commit themselves to tapping their innate musical talent.
This year’s convention is their debut performance as the newly formed quartet.  They are going to perform the well known lively number “Zip-a-Dee-Do-Dah” and the romantic love song “Whispering”.

Tone Cold Sober is the male offshoot of the mixed 8part harmony group 4 Bars Later created out of the local Strandhill folk choir by the vibrant Maire Hunt.  Having competed at national convention over the past three years, as well as the music festival in Coleraine and of course their local International Choral Festival in Sligo.
The membership of the chorus continues to grow with numbers having been boosted by an influx from Sligo Musical Society, with six out of the seven brothers from the hit musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers being bitten by the barbershop bug.  This men’s chorus oozes musical talent and takes every occasion to entertain the masses now boasting two male quartets Beyond Bars and The C-Shore 4, both of whom will compete at this year’s convention.  Not satisfied with just singing barbershop at a string of charity functions and fun and pub gigs, the chorus have gone on to produce a ukulele-wielding band and also a unique musical group called Busted Flat, which can only be described as a fusion of country, folk, blues and of course the inevitable barbershop music.  Tone Cold Sober is a fun-loving chorus who enjoys singing at every opportunity- whether it is barbershop or otherwise

This year's outing at the National Barbershop Convention was a huge success with the men's chorus getting the silver medal, going one better on their bronze from the Tallaght Convention  last year.

No Half Measures is not only the fastest growing ladies chorus in the country with a total of 35 members but it is also unquestionably the youngest chorus in the country with ages ranging from 20 to 50years.  The chorus stemmed from the mixed 8 part harmony group 4 Bars Later set up in the idyllic seaside village of Strandhill in Co. Sligo by the vivacious Maire Hunt.  Maire gained her love of barbershop through the encouragement and support of her mother Claire, who was the then director of the renowned ladies chorus Champagne Cork.  Members now come from far and wide throughout the county to rehearse in the old-world Irish pub The Strand, who have been their generous sponsors since the creation of the original group.  No Half Measures has competed in national convention for the past three years and this fun-loving bunch of women love to perform and take every opportunity to entertain, whether it is a charity function or a fun gig.  Now boasting two ladies quartets- Countermeasures, the first ladies quartet in the north west and the newly-formed The Miss 4 Tunes. The chorus is forever aspiring to bigger and better things, spreading the sound of barbershop in the sunny north west.

This year the ladies were delighted to come away with the silver medal at the National Barbershop Convention in The Helix.

Our director Maire Hunt after both her
choruses won silver medals at convention.
